why i am the leader our party needs
As a County Party Chair, I'm uniquely qualified
The role of a County Party Chair includes ensuring the work of electing Democrats is achieved. This includes ensuring fiscal goals are met, operations run smoothly, relationships and coalitions are built, and people remain inspired and encouraged to continue fighting for a better future. As Chair of the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County, I have proven I have the skills to do all those things. In 2024, I worked to mobilize hundreds of people to Get Out the Vote, and we did our job of keeping Bernalillo County BLUE.
But, what's most unique about my role as Chair of the largest County Party in the state is that I understand this work is a calling for those of us who hold this role. We are fueled by the belief in a better, brighter future for everyone. This work is often thankless, but we're not in it for the thanks. We do this work because we must. So, you can be confident that when I say I'll invest time and energy into the County Parties, I will, because I am one of them.
Believe it or not, my life experience has prepared me for this work
At age 19, I began working with a large international corporation, where I was lucky to be able to join the United Food & Commercial Workers Union soon after. Being a part of a union gave me the leg up and closed some inequity gaps I didn't know existed at the time.
I quickly moved up the ranks, and became a Corporate Finance Budget Analyst. My thirteen year career with this company taught me leadership, teamwork, professionalism, and how to improve efficiencies using systems, procedures, and technology. When I opened my own small business in 2015, many of those skills transferred over, and I learned much more!
I learned how to work even harder to secure grants, diversify revenue generation, and participate in fundraising so that my team and I could focus more on the craft we love. I've used many of these skills in my county party work, and I look forward to bringing them with me into the State Party Chair role, too!
I am New Mexico
I was born in Santa Fe, raised in rural southern New Mexico, and have lived in Albuquerque since 1997. Connecting to all the beautiful communities that make up our state is important to me, and supporting them in culturally competent ways is even more so. It takes people of all perspectives, backgrounds, talents, and beliefs to make our state thrive, and I know that together, we are unstoppable!
